PET Preform Injection Moulding

High-cavity injection moulding of PET preforms, the upstream process to PET stretch blow moulding.

PET Preform Injection Moulding is the process of producing the small, test-tube-shaped PET parts (preforms) that are later heated and blown into bottles. This is a separate operation from blow moulding, different machine, different cavity counts, different supply economics. Cavity options: 16, 24, 32, 48, 72, 96. Output ranges from 8,000 preforms/hour (16-cav) to 60,000+ preforms/hour (96-cav). Most Indian water plants do not run preform injection moulding in-house, they buy preforms from established suppliers (Reliance, Indorama, IVL). It typically becomes economical when the bottling line consumes more than 50,000 bottles per day, or when special preform geometries are required. Capex: ₹45 Lakhs to ₹3 Cr depending on cavity count.
