water treatment

GPM (Gallons Per Minute)

A flow-rate metric used for water treatment equipment sizing, particularly UV sterilisers, ozonators, and pumps.

GPM (Gallons Per Minute) is a flow-rate unit used in water treatment, particularly for sizing UV sterilisers, ozonator dose, RO recovery, and pump capacity. 1 US GPM ≈ 3.785 LPM ≈ 227 LPH. Common UV steriliser sizing in Indian beverage plants: - 30 BPM water plant: 12 GPM UV (45 LPM) - 60 BPM water plant: 24 GPM UV (90 LPM) - 90 BPM water plant: 40 GPM UV (150 LPM) - 120 BPM water plant: 60 GPM UV (225 LPM) - 240 BPM water plant: 120 GPM UV (450 LPM) Always size 25% above peak flow for UV, fouled quartz sleeves reduce effective dose, and Indian feedwater has more turbidity variation than design assumes.
