Neck Finish (PCO 1810 / 1881)

The "neck finish" is the standardised geometry of a PET bottle neck, including thread profile, support ring, and seal area. It defines which closure (cap) types fit, and it must be matched between the preform, the capping turret, and the cap supplier. Common Indian beverage neck finishes: - **PCO 1810**, 28mm thread, traditional water bottle. Most-installed neck format in India. - **PCO 1881**, 28mm short, lightweight water bottle (saves 1.5–2 g per closure). Adopted by major water brands for sustainability. - **38mm crown**, for jars and large-format water. - **30/25 ROPP**, for sparkling water and CSD. - **38mm tamper-evident**, for juice and dairy. - **Slim-can ends**, for CSD cans (not strictly a neck finish but the equivalent). Switching neck finishes mid-operation requires changing the preform supply, the capping head, and the cap supplier.
